Farewell Phil :'(
Today I got to learn that Philip Nicholas too was an unfortunate casualty of the tsunami title wave that hit Sri Lanka yesterday. At the time of his death, he was holidaying in Arugambay (located in Pottuville) spending Christmas at the Star Dust Beach Hotel. The wave that struck the area had completely destroyed the hotel.
Phil was the founder and lead developer for Hibyte Co., a UK based web development company. He came to Sri Lanka in 1999, to work on the Star Dust hotel's web site, and directly gone there at a time when going to Pottuville was unthinkable do to terrorist activities. Ever since then he had fallen in love with Sri Lanka and had worked and lived here since then.
I met Phil towards the end of 2002, when my former company ITABS formed a partnership with Hibyte LK. I worked with him a little over an year on a few projects. He was a perl and DHTML genius. I would say most of my current perl writing styles and even some PHP generic functions were greatly influenced by him. One thing I really admired in him was his appreciation for Sri Lanka and its people. He would often talk of how lucky we are in certain things compared to western countries and showed us things that we took for granted. He had many stories to tell.
You were a great inspiration and we shall miss you dearly. To all the thousands of people who their lives, let us pray that they find true happiness in what ever form it may be.

Round and round in never ending circles, people’s interpretations and misinterpretations becomes just so much noise. Find a quiet place, an open space, near the river or ocean, feel the breeze, breathe, close your eyes, close off your thoughts, breathe and listen to your heart, hear it beat, calm, the steady ‘boom boom’ of your pulse, breathe. Banish all negativity, all of it, every last negative thought and just be … no need to be anything, simply just be. Serenity, clear minds, clear thought patterns, peace. If ….. there was a creator, of all that we see, smell, hear and feel with our senses, who created each blade of grass, leaf, berry, animal, vegetable, mineral, every element and permutation within the universe, who are we as mortal beings to guess or suppose how he, it or she would think, want or intend.
We all know what is right and what is wrong, we all gesture and pose, manipulate and tell our contrived truths, beyond all, the human animal hungers to pour the love he/she has upon another and most certainly searches out to be loved in return. All the head games and heart games that have ever been played out are all in search for conformation of being worthy of being loved and also finding others to love, wholly and completely. Not acquiring that love or and very importantly, not having that love of self, leads to mental illness and desperation. To not love self, to think you yourself are unworthy of love, beyond all the gesturing and posturing, very often leads to pointing at others in order to find something or someone to blame.
Our life journey/path is not meant to be fair, it is what it is and can be what you make it, take control of the helm/steering wheel, do not blame an uneven road, the weather, the bandits who lay in wait to rob you, there are no guarantees, none, this is no game, this is your journey, be righteous, be your own best friend. Find contentment, peace of heart and mind, for every person that comes close to your path, touch them in a positive way, and as sure as the sun shall rise on the morrow, positivity will come into your life.

I cannot forget what Philip Nicholas did and I will never forgive him, he blighted many people’s lives, with his lies and his believable deception. 44 workers became enemployed in an area of mass unemployment, his theft and fraud of ‘Linefeed’, ruined me and a few others, people who had been his ‘friends’ and aides.
He stole from easy targets and with his ill gotten gains, he manipulated the vunerable in Coloumbo, to feed his sexual needs as a preditory homosexual, searching out young flesh. A quite despicable person.
No doubt many were duped by Philip Nicholas’s charming ways and amazing intellect. On so many fronts a most gifted man, yet tainted, in the most evil way.
Why was it so many people listened to his old spewed melody of putrid deceit, duplicity and endless innuendo. There are but three methods to gain wisdom. The first is by way of reflection, which is the highest. The second is by limitation, which is the easiest and the third, is by experience, which is the bitterest and in truth, the only way I ever learned a thing <3
Philip Nicholas was not the do gooder he has been said to have been, he employed young men who he spoiled and manipulated into positions to feed his homosexual desires. He did not assist the disadvantaged while in prison but kept to himself. He was dishonest and dishonourable to the people who helped him get started, always having his own secretive agenda. Although his life has been curtailed, I am sure he did not suffer anywhere near as much as his victims. It is a shame that so bright and capable a mind was so dreadfully warped and tainted.
