#57 Beach View Buy allopurinol for gout is a new name for a recently rebuild small guesthouse.
As yet, we have no good information and no feed back from guests about this establishment.
Please assist us and others by posting your impressions below.

#54 Shashni Beach Resort

#54 Shashni (sign)#54 Shashni Beach Resort is an interesting, 2006 creation.
The strip of land just South of #50 SVH has been used by Tangalle resident Mr. Sudumathia (“The White Guy”) for many years as a fish packing centre. The Ceylon Fishing Corporation operated an ice crushing plant next door. Daily, fish was transported to the main market in Colombo in cool trucks; later a regular bus service AbaY-Monaragala-Hikkaduwa was added to this transport only operation.
The noisy and very smelly fish business stopped rather suddenly in Dec. 2004 when the ice plant was washed away and never rebuild.
Good luck had it that suddenly many boats and engines were given away by many uncoordinated agencies, and it seemed that the former fishmonger became a proud, multiple fishing boat or -fleet owner.
Mid 2006 seen another piece of good fortune for the Sudu family. Somehow the former transport yard was cleaned up and a brand new hotel resort was constructed.

#54 Shashni (establishment)

#54 Shashni's road entrance

In ten nice, colourful bungalows and a few budget cabanas were build, adding choice and a very central location to stay in the Bay.
Neighbours are also happy, because the former business caused some conflict, because the bad smell and noise was never apprechiated by any visitor on holiday in the Bay.
#54 Shashni has only been in operation a few months, but proved itself as a popular, well positioned little resort, in the very centre of Arugambay, right next door to the also noisy SVH.

A popular figure is #54 Shashini’s Motilium online canada own cook, Shabdeen, who gained his multiple skills in almost all surrounding guest houses at some stage.
However, not many small guest houses in Ceylon can boast to have a proper (#39) Diovan vs generic Hillton trained chef on board these days….

#53 Meena’s

cimg0418.JPG

Cost of allopurinol in ireland #53 Meena’s Motilium treatment is listed seperately from #52 Subashi because a new accommodation block is being constructed in the rear yard of the beer bar. Both, as well as #55 Seven Seas, are under the same Tamil ownership.
Meena & husband Mahindra have been in the Bay for many years and had many set backs, loosing their investment due to civil war and the Tsunami, specially #55 Seven Seas was hit hard by both.
However, keen business connections and multiple partnerships have always assisted Ms. Meena to recover and progress.
We expect #53 Meena’s to become a low investment, high volume mini resort catering for the budget minded in the near future.

#51 HangLoose Hotel

Purchase emsam withdrawal symptoms Order oxytrol online #51 Hangloose (sign)#51 HangLoose Hotel was known as #51 GrassRoof Hotel for many years before it changed the name.
Muslim owned and run, #51 has always been very popular with Israeli Surfers, who felt very much at home in the former GrassRoof.
Mr. Farook, who was known to have a high, distinctive voice is the manager when he can spare time from this other jobs as local teacher in the Muslim college or his duties with the Arugam Bay Tourist Association or rubbish Collection service.

#50 Siam View Hotel -SVH-

#50 SVH (sign)#50 Siam View Hotel or: -SVH- should exist somewhere between #49 Pereras and #51 HangLoose.

However no record of this place can be found anywhere, at least locally.
Neither Mercy Corps or their sponsored Tourist Association Web sites, or indeed any Governmental Departments seem to list this establishment.
Does #50 SVH actually exist?
Have you been at #50?
Does anyone know this little place?
If so, please give details or write an introduction!

Additional Information taken from a Travel Guide Book:

No Worries!
This is a translation by Alf Docherty, Rheindahlen of an entry in the leading German Travel Guide, The Loose Du Mont Sri Lanka Reisefuehrer:

The Siam View Hotel

The facade appears rather ramshackle and unattractive, but this hotel has the honour of being the oldest wooden construction on the east coast of Sri Lanka and as such is on the National Heritage list of protected buildings. Go behind the facade and you will make a few interesting discoveries, not least of which has to be the excellent food served on the terrace and a wide selection of draft beers brewed in accordance with an old German tradition which allows only the use of the purist ingredients. You will also discover a special breed of people, an important piece of local history and a vast number of brilliant innovations. Without the Siam View Hotel, which opened in 1979, Arugam Bay would not be what it is today. Dr. Fred Netzband-Miller, an engineer of Dutch/German A?a??a?? English extraction and a handful of friends built this unpretentious landmark on what was, in the late 1970A?a??a??s, a deserted stretch of beach. Since then, it has served its visitors in many ways: during the worst phases of the civil war it was declared a weapon free zone respected by all parties. It has always been and still is: a haven for homesick ex-patriots and for adventurers of all nationalities, a meeting point for surfers and a place where NGO workers can come to discuss their ideas, exchange information and work on plans for future projects to benefit the local population.

A?a??A?WeA?a??a??re not here because we want to get rich, weA?a??a??re here because we enjoy itA?a??A?, emphasises Fred, who does not, even these days, have a brochure or visiting card for his hotel.

A?a??A?The name Siam View is intended to suggest that theoretically it would be possible (if the earth were flat) to see ThailandA?a??A?, explains the 56 year old, who lived there for many years and as the son of a diplomat grew up in Africa and feels that the whole world is home. It is one of his dreams to cross the 2000 km stretch of ocean on a jetski. That is not necessarily as unrealistic as it may sound: in 1977 Fred left the Isle of Man on a motorbike and succeeded in travelling the entire distance to India by land, then finally crossing to Sri Lanka by ferry. There is probably no one with a better knowledge of this corner of the world. Fred has counted 63 bays on the way to Hambantota. At one time, Fred served as a Liaison Officer for the British Army and was stationed in Potsdam. He has already twice negotiated the dense jungle and crossed the rivers of the Yala East National Park on a Unimog with a specially adapted and waterproof motor. His intention was to reach Colombo and as he says: A?a??A?That was the shortest wayA?a??A?.

It is therefore not surprising that, at least until the Tsunami struck, the Siam View Hotel offered its guests the use of six ATV (All Terrain Vehicles) and during the specially conceived A?a??A?Full MoonA?a??A? parties massive 1800 watt loudspeakers created an unforgettable atmosphere as the disco played music from the hotelA?a??a??s 8000 CD library.

#50 SVH's telephone booth for international calls!

#50 SVH's telephone booth for international calls!

Now 4 satellite dishes feed in television channels from around the world and provide an international telephone connection. In January 2004 a permanent high speed internet connection was installed and is still the only one on the entire east coast.

Although this costs nearly $1000 a month to run, locals are able to surf the net without charge. Everyone in the immediate vicinity also benefits from the 180 hp Mitsubishi Generator, which provides a standby source of electricity in the event of power cuts and there are very good reasons to believe that it once stood in Saddam HusseinA?a??a??s Republican Gardens.

This generator, which uses between 7 A?a??a?? 9 litres of fuel per hour, initially saw service in Siam View in 1990 to provide a power source for the first air conditioning units. The hotel is particularly proud of a number of environmentally friendly innovations. One of these is the hotels own very efficient and clean sewage treatment system. Plastic bottles are collected and re-cycled to be used roof insulation.

The Tsunami left only the shell of the main building standing and of the original 26 rooms only 4 now remain. But, the disaster served to further enhance the hotelA?a??a??s legend. At about 08:45 on the morning of 26 December, the gardener persisted in waking up all the guests; not an easy task as most people had only just gone to bed after the previous nightA?a??a??s lively Christmas party. The old man had noticed that the ocean was behaving strangely and he was convinced that a terrible catastrophe was about to happen. The disaster was not long in coming and within a few minutes, a gigantic 15 metre wave struck the small town. Thanks to the timely warning, all 165 guests survived, but everywhere else the retreating flood left behind horrific scenes of death and devastation. In this apocalyptic world, the Siam View became a symbol of survival, hope and regeneration. From the recovered food stores over 500 free meals were distributed to survivors in the first few days. A?a??A?More importantly, were the stocks of alcohol and cigarettesA?a??A?, remembers Fred and adds that in the middle of this chaos, his hotel managed to put on a modest New YearA?a??a??s party.

Fred is convinced that the terrible Tsunami disaster taught him more about physics than all the years he spent at university. And it is this knowledge, which he has put to practical use in rebuilding the hotel. The new supporting concrete pillars are triangular in shape in order to deflect boats and other debris which would be swept against the structure should another tidal wave occur. The water tower has been fitted with three large sirens with a range of 700m. Other features of the Tsunami Early Warning System are three computers permanently connected to seismological monitoring stations in Alaska, Hawaii and Bangkok. Even the matter of emancipation is one which has been given consideration at the Siam View Hotel. The new beach bar, which has been constructed entirely from natural materials, has a second floor which bears the name A?a??A?Ladies LoungeA?a??A?. It is available to female guests only, but men may be allowed to enter on rare occasions, if specially invited.

#48 Sano Hotel

Zantac hives treatment cimg0395.JPG

#48 Sano Hotel Cheap eldepryl manufacturer is very new and we don’t have any recent, reliable infomation as yet.

It is however, directly opposite, in every way, of #50 SVH, and we recall that once upon a time there was a nice Australian, who fully trusted a local business partnership.
Some say that Mr. David paid for the land, as well as construction of some tourist related businesses.
We are unaware of reasons, but something seem to have gone wrong and good old Dave packed his bags, converted to Islam and returned home to run a Thai restaurant in Australia.

Maybe #46 & #47 Hawky’s surf Shop were also affected by this sad dispute, and this may have been one reason for relocation opposite.
We are happy to publish any better information; or indeed a full correction should we recall events wrongly.

#40 Hello Madam

Mycelex-g cheap #40 Gecko (sign)# 40 Hello Madam is (now) located between #39Hillton and #42Deens.
This actually represents the third location in as many years of this particular ‘Madam’, who is actually known as Liz, or Elisabeth.

Liz came from the UK, stayed at #01 Stardust, fell in Love with the Bay and #01 employee Ramesh. They soon married and they are now blessed with a baby son, born 2006.

In order to live and work locally the couple decided to run a small business. The first chosen location, Hello Madam Mk.1, was at the bridge end of town. The small shop only opened briefly in December 2004, selling textiles, T-shirts and so on. But only for a day or so……

Mk.2 “Hello Madam” was a colorful shop opposite #50 Siam View and in addition to fabrics handicrafts and home made ice creams were on offer.
Living on one end of town, right next to the loud mosk and in rented accommodation and running a shop at the other proved to be difficult.
A rare opportunity arose in 2005 when the Aussie/UK Robbo/Peter/Linden consortium put their plot of land onto the market.
Smart Liz grabbed the chance and for the first time the happy family obtained their own premises.

#40 Gecko (establishment)

Zyprexa eating disorders #40 Hello Madam is predicted to be Arugam Bay’s rising star in years to come.
Why?
Because the entire concept is brilliant and can’t fail:
A innovative shop selling everything tourists are looking for on vacation, a nice beach side restaurant named “Gecko” offering home made goodies such as dark bread, perfect ice creams, fantastic cakes and pies. All in a homely, creative setting: It simply feels like home from home.

The new roadside lounge with plush English settees, offering good wines coupled with Liz’ known hospitality as well as a few planned rooms compliment this excellent development the Bay should be proud of.

#40 Hello Madam, on the sea side of the main road.

#39 Arugam Surf Resort has its own web site:
www.arugambay.lk
Formerly known as “The Hilton” the extra Sale mircette “L” may have been added to avoid confusion or international A?law suits from the somewhat greater chain of Hotels.
The owner is Mr. Rahim, an ambitious former rotti shop manager from nearby PottuVille.

Mr. Rahim worked himself up in life very well, making the best of any chance offered to him.
This may have been with the help of some good business partners.
The result is a fine, strong concrete building facing sideways towards the open ocean.
This design feature saved the structure from serious damage in 2004.
A fine court-yard restaurant exists, which has been popular with many NGO’s.
A further notable feature are the popular eco tours the(former) A?Hillton offers.
These canoe trips explore and explain interesting mangrove shores of the PottuVille lagoon.
Compliments to Mercy Corps, Mr. Rahim also is the President of the local Tourist Association and he managed to remain friendly and in close contact with all other organizations.

Below is an article published recently in “Explore Sri Lanka magazine:

Arugambay Surf Resort: Feel The Nature

As we step into this beachside guesthouse, we are greeted by a friendly a??helloa??. Cabanas, complete with thatched roofs, stand on one side, while we are led into an open restaurant overlooking the Eastern coast, where surfers climb the rising waves. Wea??re at Arugambay Surf Resort, where the cheerful owners are ever ready to welcome their guests with open arms inviting them not only to just feel the nature of Arugam Bay, but also to be part of their family.

By Madhushala Senaratne | Photography by Mahesh Bandara

Located just minutes away from the Arugam Point, regarded as one of the best surf points in Sri Lanka, the guesthouse has been designed very much in keeping with the nature of the area. Having been born as a small shop that served the weary fisherfolk of Arugam Bay, the Surf Resort traces its roots to the 1970s.

a??My father started this,a?? says M H A Raheem, its Managing Director, recalling the early days. Once a simple fishing village, Raheema??s father who had come to Arugam Bay in the 1970s made a living by selling rotti to the fishermen. As time went, a few tourists were also seen roaming the area, and as more people sought his rotti, several beachside huts were set up for visitors to dwell in.

His father had then received help from a lady who was working at the Hilton in Sydney, says Raheem, adding that she trained him to prepare dishes to suit the food styles of the Westerners. The name Arugambay Hilton was also coined during this time. Raheem later joined his father, helping him develop the guesthouse, and currently works with his four brothers at the hotel. A few others have also joined the staff of the Surf Resort.

With time, the business gathered momentum, and the name was changed to Arugambay Hillton and new facilities were introduced. Later, it was renamed Arugambay Surf Resort and currently it provides 12 guesthouses including cabanas and luxury rooms. Both Eastern and Western menus are served at the beachside bar, and guests can sway in the breeze while they lie down on the outdoor hammocks. Mexican dishes are a newly introduced specialty of the guesthouse.

It is located in close proximity to a range of attractions in and around Arugam Bay, such as the Magul Maha Viharaya and the Muhudu Maha Viharaya. For the wildlife enthusiast, the Kumana National Park is just an houra??s drive from the guesthouse, while for those who seek some thrill and adventure, there are the sand dunes of Panama and the waves of Arugam Bay to surf on. Whata??s more is that Arugam Bay Surf Resort operates safari and taxi services and will guide you with all the necessary information.

The Kumana National Park is just an houra??s drive from the guesthouse, while for those who seek some thrill and adventure, there are the sand dunes of Panama and the waves of Arugam Bay to surf on

Raheem believes that in order to grow the business ita??s vital to maintain cordial relationships with each visitor. With tourists giving tips as to how to cook and what to cook, therea??s much Raheem and his team look for. Recalling one particular incident he relates how an Italian couple taught them to bake a type of pizza and even started taking orders from guests!

As for the future, Raheem says that they will continue to develop the guesthouse, while building on the already established foundations of trust and care. a??When youa??re at Surf Resort you dona??t need to wait for somebody to assist you, we just do,a?? says Raheem.
